The Environmental Zone of Aarhus

The environmental zone (Miljozone) of Aarhus is the third zone of this type which has been introduced in Denmark, after Copenhagen and Aalborg. The environmental zone of the second largest city in the country has been introduced on 1st September 2010 and concerned first Lorries (vehicles category N2 and N3) and busses (M2 and M3) from the standard EURO 3 registered in Denmark.

The environmental zone of Aarhus is bordered on its eastside by the Kattegat. Then, the zone is northerly, westerly and southerly surrounded by the Ringstreet 1. The traffic on the motorway ring is free from the obligation to bear an EcoSticker.

Since 1st November 2011, the environmental zone of Aarhus is also valid for Lorries and busses not registered in Denmark, which must respond to the requirements of the standard EURO 4 to be able to drive within the environmental zone.

Area/extension of the environmental zone:
Die Umweltzone liegt an der Aarhusbucht des Kattegat, welche im Osten der Stadt und der Umweltzone liegt. Die Umweltzone wird sodann im Wesentlichen von der Ringstraße 1 in südlicher, westlicher und nördlicher Richtung umschlossen. Der Verkehr zum größten Containerterminal Dänemarks über die Bundesstraße 1 ist von der Plakettenpflicht befreit.
